Mush and Fern Vase

$80.00
sold out

This mush and fern ceramic vase is a cheery addition to a shelf, desk, mantle, windowsill, or other flat surface. Quite nice to look at, with or without some blooming buds or perky plant popped in there! Adorned with hand painted mushrooms and ferns climbing up and around them, this decorative vase is handmade and one of a kind. Measurements are approximate.

To make this vase, it was thrown on the wheel using white, mid-fire stoneware clay. The flowers and leaves are hand-painted with colored slips before the vase's first firing. It was glazed in a clear, transparent glaze and fired once more - for good measure (and because that is the process).

The ceramics in this set - Mushrooms, Galore! - are inspired by mushrooms, and the forests they inhabit. While the main focus of the set was on sculpture, this collection also explored a more minimal application of colored slips, while experimenting with brushstrokes and texture.
